Convergence
In April 2012 a group of artists, initially connected by Open Studio programs for painting and sculpture at Northern Beaches TAFE, decided to exhibit together. The resulting exhibition, Convergence was held in November 2012 at Artfocus Gallery & Studios and became a testing ground for the direction of the newly formed artist association Art & Soul Collective Incorporated (A&SC).
The following 17 artists exhibited in Convergence:
Alenka Ognjenovic, Ann Twells, Cherry Corr, Fiona Talintyre, Helen Ingram, Josie Young, Karen Steele, Leonie Niven, Liz Pasqualini, Louise Gillespie-Hogg, Maria Romeo, Mary-Anne Barnes, Michelle Wilkinson, Monica Clonda, Pam Henry-May, Penny Polkinghorne and Sosi Stevenson.
There was a great diversity of artistic style, genre and experience within this group of artists. For a few, Convergence was their first exhibition, whilst others may have had previous exhibition experience but had not organised an exhibition from start to finish.
The exhibition was curated by local artist and Fine Arts Teacher Sarah Mufford. The diversity of the artwork made this a difficult task and all the artists were very appreciative of Sarah’s expertise and generosity in taking on this important role.
The opening night was a buzz - over 300 people turned out on a warm Saturday afternoon. Michael Reagan, Mayor of Warringah Council, kindly opened the show - thank you Mr Mayor!

Sadly, Convergence was the last exhibition to be held at Artfocus Gallery & Studios. Thank you to Lyn Hammond and Anne Bourne, artists and owners of this gallery, for all their guidance and encouragement before, during and after Convergence.
Thank you also to Warringah Council for their support of Convergence and the future of A&SC by awarding our association a Warringah Council Cultural Grant in September 2012.
