I am lucky enough to live on Sydney’s Northern Beaches and am very inspired by my surroundings. I have developed an art practise of small 6”x6” oil paintings on board. I paint them ‘alla prima’ and am able to complete a painting in one sitting. I love the freedom that these small paintings afford me. If it doesn’t work out I simply wipe it off and do something else. I am able to try many and varied subjects. These little paintings are a real joy for me!
However I do love the challenge of painting on a larger canvas, and so I generally always have one on the go. I love the ocean but am very aware of how overdone this subject matter is. My goal is to try and represent the ocean in a non-sentimental way, to try and capture it as realistically as possible with colours that are very true to what I see.
Portrait Painting is another passion for me and I plan to develop that in the future.
