Combining work from two series, ‘Being Human’ is a contemplation of some of the many aspects of human existence at an individual level, which are then reflected at the social level. What we are, what we do, how we feel and think, all have ramifications and parallels in the wider world. Each of these pairs of paintings works to create a composite picture of what it means to be human.
Being human is an ongoing process- a negotiation between consciousness and the Unconscious , the social and the subjective. Self awareness, wholeness and the capacity to live effectively in the world are best obtained by ensuring there is a balance between the intellectual and emotional, the private and the public.
